Job Title: Kitchen Staff
Reports To: Chef

Job Purpose: We are hiring dishwashers, prep cooks, and line cooks in anticipation of our soft opening calendar.

Background: Waldmann Brewery and Wurstery is a start-up bringing together history, craft work, and service to community. Waldmann is incorporated as a public benefit corporation, built around the idea of returning value both as a brewery/restaurant and a historic site that reflects the immigrant history of 19th century Saint Paul. The building, circa 1857, has been restored with high attention to detail. We are focused on classic German beer paired with simple food that respects traditional ideas without resting on cliches.

Waldmann is a 60 seat table service operation. We are open seven days/week for lunch and dinner. In the apprentice tradition, we are motivated to invest time training individuals with high energy and a desire to learn. The menu is deliberately simple with a traditional German focus. We will be prep production heavy and quick pick-up oriented. Sausage production and scratch cooking will be at the heart of the kitchen.

Qualifications:
Available to work nights and weekends. We are hiring both fulltime and part time positions.
Previous work in kitchens emphasizing cleanliness and efficiency.
Interest in building culinary knowledge and leadership skill in an apprentice style kitchen.
Passion for food and culture.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Able to anticipate and proactively address problems in a fast paced environment.
Understanding of the importance of issues of inclusivity and diversity.

Personal traits:
Take pride in learning the craft.
Have fun under pressure.
Maintain standards personally and as a team.
Work in a clean as you go open kitchen.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to navigate all areas of the kitchen and back of house areas.
Ability to work in refrigerated areas.
Ability to work in areas with high heat.
Ability to lift 35 - 50 pounds.
Ability to perform repetitive hand work.
Ability to bend, reach, lift, and perform all tasks in a crowded environment.
